PDF Downloads in Zipped Format

Improvements to our download page takes us another step towards supporting our customers with full life cycle electronic data management. We can't keep everyone's PDF's on our site forever, so we wanted to offer customers a way to easily save their sample results locally.

This currently does not include regulatory reports, as they are not online individually.

Our download service allows you to save your lab results on an internal PC. We wanted to provide this information in a way that is human-usable, so our download function includes an index file that allows you to open your PDF's with one click from a spreadsheet.

To begin, log into your account at http://www.pureharvest.com. If you don't have an account, call your lab and ask them give you a user name and password.

Using the drop down menu, navigate to the Samples/Download page.

To make best use of this service, you should download regularly. Please do not download the same results over and over, as this places an unnecessary load on our servers. File:White-bar.jpg

The date format MUST look like this: 02/04/10, with leading zeroees. We have not coded for other formats.

If you want the actual PDF reports, you will download the Zip file. If you want just detail of the recent tests, you will download just the data export. The data export is included in the zip file.

When the file has created, you will see a yellow highlighted line like this:

Zip File

The content of the zip file looks like this. It contains all the lab reports that were printed in the requestd period. You should extract all these files into your local lab_reports folder.

The index_101_samples.csv contains the names and description of these files. You should import the data from the csv file into your master spreadsheet.

The archive also contains a spreadsheet listing all the lab reports within the zip file, and some basic info about each one. The spreadsheet contains a link that will open the PDF in your own computer.

Instructions

  1. Create a new directory called LabReports, or whatever else you wish, on your PC.
  2. Pick the range that you want to download. Start with a brief range that will include several samples. Once you get the hang of it you can download larger ranges.
  3. Download the zip file onto your computer.
  4. Open the zip file and save all of the contents into the new directory you created.
  5. Locate your index (index_????_samples.csv) file and open it.
  6. Adjust the columns to fit the data, and set the column types appropriately.

Using the formatted sample xls file

  1. Open the sample index file we provided (index_000_samples.xls)
  2. If this is your first download, save the sample under a different name.
  3. Copy the data from your CSV file into the sample XLS file
  4. Column J is titled "Link to File". Clicking a name in this column will open the PDF. The PDF must be in the same folder as the index file in order to open when clicked.

Now that you have a file formatted to your liking, you can update it every time you download. You will have to understand your own spreadsheet environment to do this properly. Every environment will be different, so there is no one set of steps that will work for everyone.

Spreadsheets

The data files are simple text files with tab or comma separated values. Excel will load this automatically, but you will need to adjust the columns.

Excel has an annoying habit of trying to change all kinds of data into "dates" or Numbers. For example, it will change 00101 into 101. It will change 9-3879 into "9/1/3879", then display it as Sep-79. It is possible to prevent this from happening by importing manually. Ask someone knowledgeable about Excel how to do this.

The Index export is a summary of each sample, and a link to the PDF on your own computer.

Column Names:

Owner	| Lab Number	| Print Date	| Lot Number	| Pdf Report	| Seed Class
... | Product Name	| Cultivar	| Source	| Link to File

The data export file can be used to import sample data into your own inventory software, or just as a spreadsheet of test results on your computer.

Column Names:

Lab Number | Lot Number | Print Date | Type | Component | Test Date
... | Test Name | Test Value

The information within the spreadsheet is not an official result, and, while believed to be reliable, is not guaranteed.

The signed paper reports are the only official result of the tests on your samples.
